Does God Heal Today? At Southern Cross people attending healing services often ask, Does God heal today? We hear the question from people who have no Christian background, but also from those who profess Christianity and are active members of a church. It's a reminder that there is little known or understood about the healing minstry in the church today. We sometimes hear of people called 'faith healers,' and we may even understand a little about the sacrament of holy Unction (anointing the sick with oil) available through the church. Also, we hear of well meaning but misguided Chrsitians who pray for healing. It's understandable that people feel confused, and often relegate the ministry of healing to the too hard basket. We believe God does heal today. This ministry, based on God's promises, offers support from caring Christians for those who are sick, hurt or troubled. Following a time of worship and teaching which focuses on healing, the trained ministry team will then join their faith with yours to seek healing through the laying on of hands. We also conduct a 9 week programme titled 'Journey Into Wholeness' which is offered to assist people into recovery from cancer and other serious illnesses. Carers are particularly welcome. Our aim is to support and strengthen people in their resolve to recover from cancer and other serious ilness. History Of Healing At Southern Cross
In 1922 a visiting missioner at St Paul's Cathedral carried out a ministry of healing to the sick. The vicar of St Paul's was impressed by what he saw, and determined to bring the ministry of healing to members of his own parish. This special ministry is offered to assist people into recovery from cancer and other serious illnesses. Carers are particularly welcome. Our aim is to support and strengthen people in their resolve to recover from cancer. Dealing with serious illness can be likened to a wilderness experience. This is the theme that we use as the basis of our program to journey with you through this life-changing event. Wildernesses are not survived without adequate shelter, food and clothing. Our task is to equip you with what you need not just to survive the wilderness but to be strengthened for the purpose of moving out of it. What Happens When You Come?
